What a “dummy ticket” really is
“Dummy ticket” is a loose term people use for a flight booking shown during a visa application without buying the actual ticket. The problem is how most are made: an edited PDF designed to look like a confirmation, with a booking reference that leads nowhere.
How visa officers check
Consular staff don’t just glance at the PDF. For higher-risk applications they enter the PNR and surname on the airline’s “Manage Booking” page. If nothing comes up — or the details don’t match — the document is worthless, and worse, it suggests intent to deceive.
What to use instead
Use a real GDS reservation on a live PNR that you can verify yourself before you rely on it. It’s held for your appointment, costs a fraction of a paid ticket, and stands up to any embassy check.
